Welcome back!

Sleeping Cat on Piano (2).jpg

With summer drawing to a close it's time to dust off the keys and begin the season anew.  This marks year 52 in my piano teaching career and I've loved every lesson!

My cats  always welcome the attention from each and every guest and what a bonus to hear a stream of that beautiful piano music played especially for them!  Occaisionally they've been known to hop on the keys and paw out their own tune!

The Brilliance of Beethoven (1770 - 1826)

OIP.webp

2026 marks 200 years since of death of the magnificent Ludwig van Beethoven.

Considered by some to be the greatest composer of all time his works touch the soul and nourish musical minds.

This year I will be celebrating the life and works of Beethoveven by encouraging all of my students to play at least one of his many piano pieces and to learn about his life and times.

Why Honeybee?

Despite my love of nature's most important pollinator (the bee) and my love of one of nature's most nutricious and delicious sweeteners (honey) my website is named after the children's folksong The Honeybee.

This folksong has been a beloved piece to play with many of my beginning piano students and has found it's place on many a concert program.  What a happy coincidence that my street address, 543, is the same as the first three scale degrees of this song.

Two years ago at 8 years old, my daughter wanted to learn to play piano.  Upon the recommendation of a friend, we called Joanne and registered for lessons.  It was the best decision we’ve made.  Not only is Joanne exceptional in her knowledge and skill in piano, her limitless patience and constant encouragement has made learning the piano an absolute joy.

I would absolutely recommend Joanne to anyone of any age looking to learn the piano.  Her love of music and her genuine passion for teaching is indeed a rare and wonderful thing to find.
